The Indian Athletics Final Series in New Delhi brought several of the country’s leading track and field athletes together ahead of the Asian Games. The competition produced strong performances across sprints, distance races, jumps and throws.
2. Nirbhay Choudhary Sets a New Mark
The biggest highlight came in the men’s hammer throw, where Nirbhay Choudhary produced a national-record effort of 71.02 metres. His throw surpassed the previous Indian mark of 70.73m set by Neeraj Kumar in 2016.
3. Animesh Kujur Dominates the Sprints
Animesh Kujur completed a sprint double by winning both the 100m and 200m. He clocked 10.21 seconds in the 100m before returning to win the 200m in 20.59 seconds.
4. Sable Returns to Steeplechase
Avinash Sable made his return to the 3000m steeplechase after an injury layoff and won the event in 8:32.39. The performance gives the Asian Games champion valuable competition time ahead of his next major assignment.
5. Strong Showing in Throws
Rohit Yadav won the men’s javelin with an 81.10m effort, while two-time Asian Games champion Tajinderpal Singh Toor topped the shot put with 20.64m. Annu Rani also won the women’s javelin with 57.50m.
6. Women Athletes Make Their Mark
The women’s events also produced notable results. Ancy Sojan won the long jump with 6.76m, while Harita Bhadra took the 100m in 11.22 seconds. Aishwarya Mishra won the 400m in 52.51 seconds.
