Hockey India’s internal tensions have escalated after president Dilip Tirkey stripped Director General Cdr RK Srivastava of all powers with immediate effect. A show-cause notice has also been issued to the official.

The notice lists eight alleged instances of non-compliance and governance concerns. Srivastava has been directed to stop exercising operational, administrative, financial and other official authority until further action under Hockey India’s rules.
3. World Cup Travel Under Scrutiny
One major issue concerns Srivastava’s trip to the World Cup in the Netherlands. According to the notice, he had previously been instructed to remain in India to focus on Hockey India League matters and other priorities.
4. Jersey Row Adds to the Tensions
The controversy surrounding India’s national team jersey is another key issue. The decision to change the traditional blue jersey to saffron was criticised, and Hockey India later restored blue for the Asian Games. Tirkey alleged that the change was made without proper consultation with the executive board.

Concerns have also been raised about expenses linked to the Netherlands trip. Former Hockey India president Narinder Batra alleged that around ₹43.68 lakh was spent on daily allowances for four officials during the visit. These remain allegations cited in the dispute.
6. Srivastava Gets Time to Respond
The action is not being described as a final disciplinary decision. Srivastava has been given four weeks to submit his explanation and supporting documents before further action is considered.
