Cockroach Janta Party Announces October 10 Delhi Protest Over CEC Gyanesh Kumar

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has announced plans for a protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on October 10 if Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar does not resign. The announcement came after the group held a demonstration at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park on October 2.

CJP Calls for Peaceful Protest

CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke said the proposed Delhi demonstration would remain peaceful. He urged citizens who support free and fair elections to join the protest and said the movement would follow the principles of non-violence associated with Mahatma Gandhi.

Focus on Electoral Rolls

The party has accused the Election Commission of irregularities in the revision of electoral rolls and has demanded Kumar’s resignation. It has also called for changes to the legal framework governing the appointment of Election Commissioners and other electoral measures. These allegations are disputed and have not been independently established.

Mumbai Protest Precedes Delhi Call

The October 10 announcement followed a large CJP gathering in Mumbai, where protesters raised slogans and carried placards demanding action over electoral-roll issues. The group said its campaign would also extend to other cities.

‘Jantar Mantar 2.0’

Dipke described the proposed Delhi demonstration as “Jantar Mantar 2.0” and said the party would continue its campaign if its demands were not addressed. The planned protest adds to a growing series of demonstrations and political disputes surrounding the Election Commission and the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
