Political organisations in Tamil Nadu are preparing to participate in the INDIA bloc’s November 1 rally at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi. The Tamil Nadu Congress Committee and Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) have begun coordinating their party networks to ensure representation from southern states.
The demonstration is part of the opposition alliance’s campaign against alleged irregularities in electoral rolls and concerns surrounding the Special Intensive Revision exercise.
Tamil Nadu Congress Plans District-Level Participation
Mayiladuthurai MP R. Sudha said Congress workers across Tamil Nadu were responding to Rahul Gandhi’s appeal to participate in the Delhi programme.
According to her, preparations were underway to mobilise at least 100 party workers from each district.
Members of the Mahila Congress, Youth Congress and other organisational wings are also expected to join the mobilisation.
The effort forms part of the wider Congress strategy to bring representatives from different parts of the country to the national capital.
VCK Announces Participation From Five Southern States
VCK president Thol. Thirumavalavan has also announced plans to send party cadres from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka.
The proposed participation across five states is expected to strengthen the southern presence at the opposition gathering.
The mobilisation reflects the efforts of INDIA bloc partners to coordinate their activities beyond their respective state units.
Electoral Transparency at the Centre of Rally
The November 1 demonstration will focus on opposition allegations concerning voter-list revisions and the possible deletion of eligible voters’ names during the SIR exercise.
Congress and its alliance partners have questioned the Election Commission’s handling of the process and demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
The Election Commission has maintained that the revision is intended to improve the accuracy of electoral rolls by removing duplicate and ineligible entries. Opposition parties, however, have called for stronger safeguards to protect eligible voters.
Rahul Gandhi has invited students, young people, political organisations and citizens to join the ‘Chalo Dilli’ march.
Participation from Tamil Nadu and other southern states is expected to add a wider national dimension to the opposition’s planned demonstration.
