BRS Leaders Placed Under House Arrest in Hyderabad Ahead of Planned Visit to Sanathnagar TIMS.

Heavy police deployment outside the residence of a BRS leader in Hyderabad as several MLAs, MLCs and senior party functionaries were placed under house arrest ahead of a planned visit to Sanathnagar TIMS

Several Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLAs, MLCs and senior leaders were placed under house arrest in Hyderabad on Saturday, October 3, 2026, as they planned to visit the recently inaugurated Sanathnagar Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) hospital.

The leaders intended to inspect the services being offered at the facility and enquire about the treatment provided to patients. However, since early morning, heavy police forces were deployed at their residences, preventing them from proceeding to the hospital.

Among those placed under house arrest were Secunderabad Parliament constituency BRS in-charge Talasani Sai Kiran Yadav, Korutla MLA Dr K Sanjay, Medchal district BRS president and MLC Shambipur Raju, and several other senior leaders. Police personnel were stationed at Shambipur Raju’s residence from around 5 a.m. The MLC questioned the deployment, asking whether an elected public representative could be prevented from visiting a government hospital.

The Sanathnagar TIMS hospital was constructed during the previous BRS government and was inaugurated by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on August 17, 2026. The project has been a subject of ongoing political dispute between the BRS and the ruling Congress, with the opposition party alleging that most of the work was completed under its tenure and questioning the readiness and quality of services at the facility.

BRS leaders have repeatedly sought to visit the hospital to highlight what they describe as deficiencies, while the government and police have cited preventive measures to avoid any untoward incidents.

The latest house arrests continue a pattern of preventive police action against BRS leaders in connection with proposed visits and programmes related to the TIMS hospital and other political activities in the state.

Further reactions from BRS leadership and official statements from the police or state government are expected as the day progresses.
