Hyderabad SHE Teams have intensified surveillance and enforcement measures to address harassment of women in crowded public spaces. According to the latest report, the teams nabbed 3,068 individuals allegedly involved in harassing women.
The enforcement drive focused on vulnerable and crowded locations across Hyderabad, including public gathering areas, transport points, markets and procession routes. SHE Teams used plain-clothes surveillance and video monitoring to identify individuals allegedly involved in harassment and take action.
The initiative is part of Telangana Police’s broader women-safety mechanism. SHE Teams were originally launched in Hyderabad in 2014 and were subsequently expanded across Telangana. Their work includes tackling street harassment, stalking, harassment in public places and certain forms of online or phone harassment.
The latest action comes amid heightened police vigilance during major public gatherings and festive events in Hyderabad. Recent reports have also highlighted large-scale enforcement by SHE Teams during Ganesh festivities, with thousands of people identified or apprehended for alleged harassment-related conduct.
Officials have stressed the importance of surveillance at locations where large crowds gather, while SHE Teams continue to use decoy operations and evidence-based action against alleged offenders.
The Telangana Police Women Safety Wing says women facing street harassment, stalking or harassment in public places can approach SHE Teams for assistance.

Hyderabad SHE Teams have stepped up surveillance across crowded public spaces, with 3,068 people reportedly caught red-handed for misbehaviour and harassment of women during September, according to officials. The enforcement drive was carried out as part of heightened security measures to protect women and children during festivities across the city.
The SHE Teams and the Women and Child Safety Wing intensified their presence at locations that typically witness large crowds, including temples, procession routes, bus stops, metro stations, markets, transport hubs and other vulnerable areas. Plain-clothes personnel and video surveillance were used to monitor public spaces and identify cases of alleged harassment.
According to officials, the action targeted several forms of inappropriate behaviour, including eve-teasing, stalking, passing obscene comments, misbehaviour with women and unwanted physical contact. Individuals allegedly caught engaging in such acts were subjected to preventive or legal action depending on the circumstances of each case.
The September enforcement figures also underline the scale of cases being monitored by the city’s women-safety teams. While some incidents resulted in formal cases and penalties, others were dealt with through counselling and preventive intervention.
SHE Teams continue to form an important part of Hyderabad’s women-safety policing framework, particularly in dealing with harassment in public places. The latest enforcement drive demonstrates the continued focus on surveillance, rapid intervention and legal action in cases involving alleged harassment of women.
The Hyderabad Police have also been relying on surveillance and plain-clothes personnel to detect incidents that may otherwise go unnoticed in crowded environments. The approach is aimed at identifying alleged offenders at the location and taking appropriate preventive or legal action.
