South Central Railway (SCR) has received six recognitions at the 27th CII National Excellence in Energy Management 2026, highlighting its efforts towards energy efficiency, energy conservation and sustainable railway operations.
Kacheguda Railway Station received the “Excellent Energy Efficient Unit” award. Five other SCR establishments — Lekha Bhavan, Central Hospital/Lallaguda, Zonal Railway Training Institute (ZRTI)/Moula Ali, Rail Bogie Karkhana/Yadgir and Signal & Telecom Workshop/Mettuguda — were recognised as Energy Efficient Units.
The awards were presented during the CII Energy Efficiency Summit held at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC) on September 18, 2026. The recognition reflects energy-saving initiatives implemented across SCR divisions, workshops and field units.
SCR has been focusing on measures aimed at reducing energy consumption and promoting environmentally responsible railway operations. The latest recognition further highlights the zone’s continuing emphasis on efficient energy management and sustainable practices.
The awards underline the growing focus on energy conservation across railway infrastructure, where efficient electricity use, improved systems and sustainable practices can help reduce operating costs as well as environmental impact.
SCR has been implementing various initiatives to encourage responsible energy use across its stations, workshops, hospitals, training institutes and other railway facilities. The latest CII recognitions acknowledge these efforts and highlight the importance of energy-efficient practices in large public transport networks.
