A 30-year-old woman from Rajasthan is drawing attention online for choosing an unconventional career path, changing professions six times and prioritising financial independence over a traditional lifestyle. Himani Mittal, from Abu Road, has shared how her experiences with online work, international travel and living independently helped shape her choices.
She Started Teaching Spanish at 21
Himani said she began teaching Spanish at the age of 21, even while she was still learning the language herself. When the COVID-19 pandemic began, she shifted her work entirely online, opening up new opportunities to earn while working remotely.
She has said that financial independence was important to her from a young age because it gave her greater freedom to make decisions about her life.
Moving to Spain Changed Her Perspective
After completing a master’s degree in filmmaking, Himani moved to Spain at 25 to teach English. She spent time living there and travelling across Europe, meeting people with different experiences and perspectives.
According to her, these experiences helped her question the idea that everyone must follow the same timeline for career success, marriage and settling down.
After returning to India, she continued making decisions based on her own priorities rather than conventional expectations.
Choosing Travel and Personal Growth
Himani has chosen to remain single and focus on her career, solo travel and personal development. After moving to Delhi, she relocated to Kerala, where she continues to create social media content about everyday happiness and building a life on one’s own terms.
She has also started an Instagram series called the “SF Challenge”, aimed at people in their 30s or approaching that age who feel uncertain about their direction in life.
Her Story Resonates With Social Media Users
Himani’s account has prompted responses from people who relate to the pressure of choosing a career, finding personal fulfilment and meeting society’s expectations. Some users expressed a desire to explore new paths but said they were unsure where to begin.
Himani has acknowledged that she does not have everything figured out herself. Her journey highlights the reality that career choices and personal goals can change over time, and that there is no single timeline that works for everyone.
Her story offers a reminder to consider personal circumstances, financial stability and individual goals when making major life decisions, rather than comparing one’s progress with others.
