Karnataka Congress Takes Disciplinary Action Against Kripa Alva Over Controversial Sting Video

The Karnataka Congress has expelled former party general secretary Kripa Alva for six years following allegations linking her to a controversial sting operation involving senior Congress leaders, including Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

The disciplinary decision was communicated through an order issued by Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee vice-president M. Narayanaswamy on October 31.

The party cited alleged anti-party activities and said the controversy had damaged its public image.

Congress Says Alva Failed to Respond to Notice

According to the disciplinary order, the KPCC had earlier issued a show-cause notice to Alva, seeking her explanation regarding the alleged connection with the video operation.

The party stated that it did not receive a response before taking the decision to expel her for six years.

The allegations concerning her involvement remain subject to investigation.

Siddaramaiah Raises Questions Over Video

The controversy intensified after Siddaramaiah questioned the authenticity and origin of a video containing allegations against him.

The Chief Minister named Alva in connection with the alleged operation and called for an investigation into the people responsible for recording and circulating the material.

Siddaramaiah has maintained that the video was fabricated. According to the source report, he also obtained a court order restricting media organisations from publishing or broadcasting it.

Police Await Forensic Examination

Bengaluru Police have reportedly found no preliminary evidence supporting the incident depicted in the recording. Investigators described the video as fabricated based on the statements and evidence examined so far.

Police have also seized a mobile phone allegedly used to record the video and sent it for forensic examination.

The Congress’s expulsion decision marks a fresh development in the controversy. However, the investigation into the video’s creation and circulation is continuing, with forensic findings still awaited.
